PURPOSE

ACADEMIC CONTENT

The aim of the econometrics programme is to provide students with a solid grounding in econometrics methods and their practical applications, leading to a wide range of careers requiring analytical capacities and a thorough knowledge of statistical methods.

CAREERS

Students taking this specialisation will have various employment options, including :

  • economist-statistician,
  • consultant,
  • quantitative analyst,

both in the private sector and in major public and international bodies. Note that the latter usually require a thesis.

FURTHER EDUCATION

Doctoral studies can be undertaken following this Master’s ; candidates can apply to the school of doctoral studies Ecole Doctorale en Sciences Economiques et Gestion (ED 372) and write a thesis. Students are allowed to attend extra courses in another of the Master’s specialisations, with a view to acquiring additional skills in a particular field (quantitative tools, the environment, the evaluation of public policies).

STUDIES ABROAD

It is entirely possible to do the internship starting in April abroad.

STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

Starting from the core curriculum common to the whole Master's, this specialisation continues with a curriculum devoted to econometrics. Overall, M2 is taught in English, with the possible exception of certain course given by professionals.

ADMISSION CONDITIONS

Admission to the second year of the Master’s (M2) is based on scholastic record, after examination by the Head of Studies. All students who have completed the first year of a Master in Economics (M1) or an equivalent qualification are eligible to apply. Special attention is paid to M1 results in the fundamental subjects that are a pre-requisite to the chosen programme. Students who completed their M1 at AMSE are thus particularly well placed to obtain admission to the second year of the AMSE Master’s.

TARGETED STUDENTS

This specialisation is aimed at students who have successfully completed the AMSE M1. Other potential candidates include any student holding an M1 in economics or an equivalent qualification from another university, whether national or international.

LABOR MARKET INTEGRATION

The Head of Studies of each track will help students understand their options with respect either to pursuing further studies or to entering the job market, and will also support them in seeking an internship.

EVALUATION AND EXAMS

Students’ knowledge will be assessed for each course by written or oral examination. Practical procedures for this examination will be as defined by the General Examining Regulations of the establishment. The means of assessment will be reviewed annually, following the recommendations of the management committee of the Master’s
